Don’t go searching for things to fill your day when baseball takes a 24-hour hiatus. Instead, allow exactly what you need to be delivered directly to you. When the Mariners kick back, the Mariner Muse kicks in – bringing with it far more than just your regular dose of baseball news and game recaps (you have probably had enough by now anyway). We want to give you some new material to digest; some novel concepts for you to chew on until tomorrow comes and the Ners recommence.

Every Mariner Muse newsletter is led by a main article, which drifts away from the common baseball banter and instead investigates a new patch of grass. Ranging from fresh bits of historical analysis, to new insights into the history of the Mariners, to unique bits of perspective on the beauty that is the sport of baseball, our articles strive to introduce novel outlooks on America’s pastime – all written in extended, creative prose that is intriguing and fun to read.
But with the newsletter comes more than just the main article. Gathered for you each off-day is a new “Where are they now?” ("Where Are They Ner?") Mariner to explore, extracting details on old Ners that you might have forgotten about completely. Ever wonder where Vince Coleman is these days? How about Casper Wells? Cha-Seung Beck? For each, we will give you a potential scenario – one that sounds as if it could be true – and then the actual one (which, honestly, might be the same as the potential). It sounds odd – but it’s interesting. It’s fun.
Finally, each newsletter concludes with a final element that ranges in theme. "Trade Trees" analyze Mariner deals made in the past, tracing the path of the players included to see who they turned into now (did you know Brandon Morrow turned into Brandon League?). "Simsisms," our most popular segment, comments on the 5 strangest things broadcaster Dave Sims said on air during the past month (collectively, Dave Sims is our favorite Mariner here at the Muse). Other final elements include specific game commentaries, further thoughts on Mariner trends...honestly, anything can happen here.

Feel free to contact us and request a topic! As long as it has to do with baseball, pretty much anything goes at the MarinerMuse. Our Mission
"No baseball? No problem."
Baseball is the world’s greatest antidote.
Every year, from April to October, you know that you can rely on baseball every day to provide a three-hour escape from the daily grind. Like the post-work beer, America’s Pastime beckons in its welcoming comfort, ready to release you from the rest of your stresses. Beautiful in its rhythmic repetition, baseball’s best benefit is often found in its methodic frequency: with each team playing 162 games a year, a fan leans on baseball for stability amidst the prevailing unpredictability that plagues the rest of his or her life. Baseball improves mental health: a ballgame a day keeps the doctor away.
But what about off-days? What happens when you return from a hard day at work and open the fridge to find the 6-pack unexpectedly empty? Chaos. You have lost your supply; normality is thrown out the window, and everything is out of whack. Like addicts stripped of their needed dopamine, we do not know how to cope without our daily dose of baseball.
Mariner fans, that is where we come in.
Welcome to the Mariner Muse: your (off)-daily source of mentally stimulating baseball commentary. On every Mariner off-day, we provide you with some new food for thought to help you pass the time that our pastime normally would. With a focus on long-form content written in creative prose, our articles explore the many beauties of baseball in general and the intricacies of the Seattle Mariners as a team. A new slice of perspective on one of baseball’s many brilliant elements, a unique bit of analysis on the Seattle franchise as a whole, a weekly “where are they now?” Mariner to explore – if you consider yourself a baseball fan at all, this is for you.
Register for our mailing list to have the Mariner Muse newsletter delivered to your inbox on an (off)-daily basis – or simply follow us on Twitter, join the conversation, request a topic for future exploration, and begin to recapture a bit of what you miss on a day when the Ners don’t play.
No baseball? No problem.
